 I Grabbed This Copy As Filler Only This hands-on workshop addresses the new laws and regulations for farm direct slaughter and sales under Oregon HB2872 (the 1000 bird exemption). The A to Zs of poultry processing, sanitation, pathogen management, and regulatory compliance will be covered as each participant processes a bird to take home. Pasture management and niche marketing will also be addressed. Instructors include Derek Brandow of Our Family Farm, and Lauren Gwin with the OSU Small Farms Program and Niche Meat Processor Assistance Network. Bird for processing, meal and resource materials are included in the workshop cost. Please bring work clothes, work gloves, and rubber boots. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 30 participants. This class is one of five stand-alone workshops in our summer livestock series.
